March 31, 2020: Message from Rev Branislav Golic

Dear Parishioners,

As we are experiencing drastic changes in our lives due to the Coronavirus outbreak, the same is true for our St Elijah Parish. Keeping in mind the safety of all of the faithful, The Holy Synod of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church has adopted painful but necessary measures. Specifically, we are to continue with scheduled liturgical services in our churches without the presence of the faithful. This decision from the Holy Synod is to be adopted in the best interest of the faithful and in accordance with the state rules and regulations during the pandemic.

All other services, such as baptisms, weddings, and parastoses should be postponed for a later date when the overall situation improves. Only funerals will be held, however, with as few people present as possible. In the meantime, you are encouraged to follow the services online, while we are working diligently on improving the quality and accessibility of our live-streaming. We will continue to pray for all of those who are afflicted and those who care for them. Please submit the list of names of your loved ones for whom you would like prayers to be offered during the liturgical services.

Being your spiritual father, I invite you to accept these measures in obedience to the Holy Orthodox Church and implore you to continue with prayers in your homes. I will, personally, do everything I can to address all of your spiritual needs during these trying times. Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

In Christ Yours,
Rev Branislav Golic, Parish Priest
